MrSID Viewers Questions: 001 - Internet Explorer will not display MrSID files after the ExpressView Browser Plug-in is installed. 002 - Can ArcView 3.x users view MrSID Generation 3 Imagery? ****************************************************************************************************** Answers: 001 - Internet Explorer will not display MrSID files after ExpressView Browser Plug-in is installed This happens sometimes when using Internet Explorer version 7.0. There is an acknowledged defect in IE7 that causes a failure to view some ActiveX objects. A workaround consists of: 1. Open Internet Explorer 2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu. 3. Clear (uncheck) the "Allow Active Content from CDs to run on My Computer" checkbox. 4. Clear the "Allow Active Content to run in files on My Computer" checkbox. 5. Click the OK, then close and reopen IE7. NOTE: I have worked on one computer system where this work-around was not successful. ****************************************************************************************************** 002 - Can I use ArcView 3.x to view MrSID Gen 3 Imagery? Yes. The MRSID Generation 3 (MG3) images can now be viewed in ArcView GIS 3.2 and 3.3 by updating the AVMrSID.dll found in the .../ArcView/Bin32 folder. Download the AVMrSID.dll from LizardTech
